It's been a long time since i have posted on the bulletin board.
Thanks to a LOT of help from the folks on this forum, I was able to get my D8 1H up and running.
The thread on that is located here:

http://www.acmoc.org/bb/showthread.php?1053-My-First-Caterpillar

Once I got it running and driving, I didn't do much with the D8 except for starting it up once in awhile.

This year, however, I was able to take the D8 to the memorial day show at Santa Margarita ranch.
It was a blast to finally get to try pulling an implement with it.
Thanks again Pete, Daron and Billy.

I really enjoyed getting to meet so many of the people on the bulletin board in person.

When I showed Walt the D8, he noticed that I was riding on the fuel tank without a seat.
He decided to get me a new John Hahn seat for it.
I couldn't believe it!
I just got the seat and installed it this weekend.
It looks fantastic, and after riding on the fuel tank all this time I can attest it makes for a much more comfortable driving experience.

Thanks Walt and John, the new seat is awesome!

Chris, I am so pleased that your new seats are in place.

NOW, we need to work on getting you the much needed clutch covers and FLOOR PLATES. I will try, as I am able, to help you because I believe it is a good thing to help our young Cat enthusiasts.

Ken,

Thanks for the heads up. Unfortunately I am not in a position to even think about me getting a Cat right now. Actually my focus is to try as I can to help Chris get the clutch cover and floor plates for his D8 1H that he needs.

It is always good to keep alert for possiblies.

Floor plates are the same for the 1H series and 2U up to s/n 2U5306.
There is no clutch cover as the early versions run in the open and the clutch cover didn't come in until 2U5307.

Very nice gesture there Walt-D73T. I'm sure Chris will appreciate it.

Chris, I think Ken is suggesting that that craigslist 2U might have the floorplates you're looking for?
