You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
Deas,
These machines are fast, efficient, smooth, easy riding, and very productive - BUT I doubt they are no where near the FUN of moving earth with a D8 14A or 46A pulling a 435, 70 or equal!
On the second vid, the design of the rear wheels makes them act like the rear of a grader. Interesting design.

Hi, JanM.
Yes, I have seen that design before in other videos but never up close and personal. I would think it would better for both flotation and compaction with both wheels on each side having an equal share of the weight all the time. That JD seemed to load that scraper pretty quick too - wonder what yardage it was getting?
There is a line in Wind In The Willows, "Nothing is half so much fun as simply messing about in boats." I seriously doubt that author had ever had 'Cat Yellow Fever' or ever messed about with a 'Cat-n-can'.
I still don't think they can match a good spread of open-bowlers and push cats in bulk earth moving and CERTAINLY not in anything remotely rocky. Good loading, yeah, maybe, and on shorter hauls, but let the going get a little tough and - - - - - the TOUGH get going. I'd like to see them getting down the haul road at 45 MPH with 54 cu. yds of shot and/or ripped rock in the bowl after loading in around 25 - 30 seconds - - - or less - - like a Cat 660 or 666.
Just my 0.02.
I can't help but wonder when that poor farm tractor's hitch is going to break right clean off! (The first vid with the front wheel assist tractor) Looks like a huge over load carrying on the drawbar.

MMM... Pull Scrapers
Yeah seems like a lot of weight for the tractors hitch to handle.![]()
These buckets , as they are called here, normally have a improved hitch fitted . often a cushion hitch.
Used for laser leveling of irrigation ground devoid of rocks.
I operated one for a while pulled buy a Stiger tractor with a Spicer manual gear box. Certainly learn how to change gears.

Same here on the dedicated scraper tractors used by the professionals.
