Greetings everyone. I am a new member to the club. However not new to old CATs. I grew up with a 1952 D2 that we used to skid logs out of the woods. My current machine is a D6 s/n 9u00428. I do have a question about her. The main clutch yoke had broken on the right side. I got a new one from my local dealer and it does not have the balls on it. I just ordered them. My parts book does not show that they are held on by anything. My old one looks like it was silver soldered. So my question is are the two balls just press fit or do they need to be soldered?

Hi and welcome,
I believe the pivot balls were swaged or peened in place. Silver soldering would probably work ok also so long as you don't get them to hot and lose the temper.

Old ones were removed by smacking them a good one with a hammer with anvil back up to shatter them.

Thanks Old Magnet. I will try peening them in place
