Nice one - I have 3J4086. Looks like it had a toolbar - do you have that as well?
Thanks mrsmackpaul

There is a home made blade that came with it but I am not ready for it yet so I didn't pick it up. This came from a very good friend of mine so I know it will be there when I am ready for it.
How hard are the top roller assemblies to find? This one is missing one.
Hello ksbowhunter,
Hope you get it running good in no time. I have 3J#4103 so they were real close on the assembly line. 1940 year of production.

Thanks I do plan on getting it running as soon as I can. I ordered the gaskets and seals for the injection pump today. Yours and mine are very close together.
I looked in the manual I got with the machine but am not finding how to time the injection pump to the engine. The manual is an aftermarket one from Jensales.
Got a chance to look at the pony motor all the valves are free and operating, I am going to hook an electric motor to the flywheel and see if I can get some compression back in it before I tear into it and put rings in.
How much end play do you have in the pony crankshaft? Grab the pony flywheel and push and pull on it. How far does it move forward and backward when doing this? How about the up and down movement on it? Too much of both and the pony will "Grenade" on you. Not a good thing. When I fired up the pony for the first time on my 3J, that flywheel was doing the "Rum Boogie" like you wouldn't believe. It was very surprising that it hadn't failed on the previous owner. New main and connecting rod bearings along with rings, gaskets and seals cured the problem. As far as timing the pump to the motor find out if the guy removed the pump and didn't disturb it in way along with not rotating the diesel motor after the pump was removed. I had to change the accessory shaft seal on my pump and just re-installed it and no re-timing was needed.

I have checked the endplay, up down movement with no up/down and endplay is in spec. The pump was removed before my friend got it so who knows if everything is still in the same spot. I am one I would want to check it anyways as I prefer to only take something apart once if possible.
Hi, ksbowhunter,
welcome to the BB.
If the injection pump was removed from the filter tower then an offset tang drive that can only be installed one way will take care of the timing of the FIP.
Cheers,
Eddie B.
Thanks for the reply I finally found that information posted in the archives. After I get the seals and gaskets I will get the pump installed.
