Good Morning,
Thought you all would like to see my new Cat hauler. My requirements were:
1) Somewhat unique
2) Cheap
3) Cat power
Been dickerin' for a year and finally closed the deal Friday and drove her home. Hopefully I'll post an "after" picture in a year.

Good looking old truck. Can't see the pump all that well. Is that an "A" or "B" model 3406?

No Jake. I've got a lot to learn about the engine. There's only 260k miles on it and it sounds good. I need to find out what is involved in adding a Jake.

I have installed quite a few Jakes on them at the Cat dealer years ago and it,s not too complicated so just go by the instructions.

I didnt know they put Cats in Generals, I've only ever seen Cummins and Detroits in them. Nice truck!

For antique trucks check with gulfway insurance in florida. You will be pleased with their prices and it allows you to pull your trailers and haul your toys to shows. I had my 69 white 9000 antique plated and insured with them for under $400 per year, including my 72 lowboy trailers coverages.

Tom I never saw but one Cat truck engine in a Mack and it came into the Cat dealer for me to repair. There could have been more put in but as I said that was the first and only one I ever saw in a Mack.I guess if you order and pay the price you can get what you want in a truck.

Hi Folks,
I was away for a while and missed the last few replies to this post. Thank you all for this information, it is just what I was hoping for. I am going to check into these insurance companies. Jason, your KW is beautiful and I'm green with envy but I didn't have that budget. Mine is a 1986 GMC Gereral so maybe I've got to wait till next year to do the historic thing. Thanks to all again. Packrat, i hope your not tall like me (6'3"). If you are your going to cuss the cab height on the General! Autocar is the same way.

SJ- If a mack has got gold bulldogs then its a purebred/ mack everything eng., trany, drivers.
If its a silver bulldog it can be anything. This used to be the rule but being how old these trucks are and how easy it is to install something else they are far from factory original equiped

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
