I saw this little guy the other day. I don't know if one has been featured on here before, I had to run down a Docent and he had to run down some one else to find out what it is. I bet it beat the heck out of a shovel. Sorry for the fuzzy pixs. Tad

I've seen one before. I think they were made for airlift for ww2. I know there's military collectors that are members who will know

They were manufactured by Clark for the US Army airborne forces, I've seen photos of them inside a glider during the holland airborne operation.

Hi Tad,

What museum is that in? I know there is one in the Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio but I take it this one is in California? I like the high rise seat on it, that would make it much more comfortable. Thanks.

Very Nice exhibit, WWII Gallery, National Museum of the United States Air Force.

I believe everyone should spend a few days here, certainly can not begin to see it in a day or two! Price is right -- Free Admission.

That little 4 cylinder in those was a Waukesha Engine! When I worked there many years ago, the Field Service Department would get a call or two a year inquiring about parts for them. Most times for Combines or Starting Engines(pony) but once in a while for a CLARK Airborne!

The Clark CA-1 Airborne Dozer, was based off the Trail tractor developed by the US Forest Service at Portland Oregon. They also developed a mini grader called a beatle.

[quote="Garlic Pete"]Paso Bob is right, Garlic Mom has added one to the stable. We haven't started it yet, but it is on the list.

Interesting information about the genesis of those, westfork. I didn't realize there was a predecessor, I always assumed they were developed based upon a military specification. I'd never heard of the beetle grader. Any more information or pictures of one of those? That'd be neat to see.

Pete, a collector friend of mine owns and restored one of the only Beetle graders known to exist, if you could PM me I have an interesting article he sent me about those tractors that I could forward to you.
