Are you talking about the hydraulic cylinder? If it were me I would not necessarily go to Caterpillar for rebuild. Any good hydraulic shop can fix you up.
I don't know where you are but in my area we would go to Dayton Tractor.
There should be a part number on the cylinder....look for a 3Fxxxx for early or 8Fxxxx for late version. I would agree, take it to a good hydraulic shop as neither Cat's piston seals or ring replacement parts are satisfactory.

Yes, the hydraulic cylinder..... I took it to one shop (obviously not a good, since they said CAT only on these parts), which scared the heck out of as I've heard the price of their parts... I'll look again for a stamp on the cylinder....
