I'm needing to rebuild one of my cylinders on my D4, but am having a heck of a time finding the part numbers. 53' D4 7U 24020.... Blade is a 4 (S??? I believe is what the stamp shows), 44518...... Any help appreciated... Also, is CAT the only place to order from? I don't see any numbers on the cylinders themselves.....

Are you talking about the hydraulic cylinder? If it were me I would not necessarily go to Caterpillar for rebuild. Any good hydraulic shop can fix you up.

I don't know where you are but in my area we would go to Dayton Tractor.

There should be a part number on the cylinder....look for a 3Fxxxx for early or 8Fxxxx for late version. I would agree, take it to a good hydraulic shop as neither Cat's piston seals or ring replacement parts are satisfactory.

Yes, the hydraulic cylinder..... I took it to one shop (obviously not a good, since they said CAT only on these parts), which scared the heck out of as I've heard the price of their parts... I'll look again for a stamp on the cylinder....

Mate sounds like you need to find another hydraulic shop to me or a different person behind the counter did you have the ram pulled apart and just ask for the seals or did you take the ram in and ask to have it resealed
