You'll have to do better than that with a description.
My parts book shows 9 different generators, Delco-Remy & American Bosch for 2T application.

That doesn't mean anything other than brand.
Does the regulator mount to the generator or not?
How many pole shoe screws per pole?
Drive gear tooth count?
Single gear or double gear drive?
Pictures would also help.

Hi Erik...........your thread here made me think about the generator on my D2. Just for the heck of it yesterday I checked the output on the generator and darned if it didn't show a little over 6 volts. I thought it was junk because of the condition of the regulator. I think I will look into it a bit further now.
Have a good day.....Bill

well i called cat today and they said that there is only one gen. with the reg. mounted seperatly for the 2T it is 4F89 which has been discontinued. He could not give me the delco numbers, so if some one could help me that would be great. he also could not tell me the amps or watts either or the regulator number for that unit.

The 4F89 generator is a Delco-Remy and is replaced by a 9F4992 which is a Delco #1102429. It is a 6-volt 115 watt unit for use with battery. Can be used with three different regulators....4F71, 8B7757 or 7F2946.
Do you need Delco #'s for the regulators?

I'm still trying to pin down the Delco # for the original 4F89. Got plenty of numbers, just trying to get a match.

Ok, think I got it and fixed my mistakes.
The original 4F89 is the 18 amp, 115 watt Delco #1102425.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
