My grand father bought all of the parts to over haul the engine in a D4 that he had in the late 60s. Most of the gaskets have deteriorated and I threw out the rigs because they were rusty but the pistons and sleeves are in good shape. The wax on the sleeves seems to have protected them quite well and my grandfather always made sure that they were standing up on end because he said that gravity would deform the sleeves if you laid them on their sides.

I would like to sell these to someone who will actually use them. I think that 45 years is long enough to hang on to parts that fit a machine we no longer have. If I remember correctly my grandfather said that the d4 was from the early fifty's but I could easily be off by ten years. I was hoping that someone could tell me what engines these parts would fit.

The numbers stamped in the piston are 10V and IH2690

Thanks

Those items are for the D4400 engine, 4-1/4" bore.

Thanks OM

I the next thing that I need to figure out is what the parts might be worth. Maybe someone who has recently bought parts could let me know what they paid for them.

The only other parts that I have are the head gasket and some poney engine parts that I am going to keep sence they fit the D2 as well as the D4.

If you could find them new I'd figure about $300 per hole for liners, piston, rings and seals. Your call on what to ask.

I was looking through the store room today and found the crankshaft bearings that my grandfather had bought. I had forgotten all about them.

Any ideas what the bearings and head gasket would cost new?

Thanks

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
