Hi Tugger,

That D4 with the single blade lift cylinder is quite rare.
I've only ever seen one other before now.

Hi Wabcoman
When i first got the D4,I tied to think of ways of setting up 2 blade cylinders.I guess it seemed more Cat like, less like a Terex. The single cylinder does seem to work well very responsive for grading,If you can ingore the play in the pins and trunions.Be interesting to hear if anyone has some insight as to why Cat tried the single cylinder on the blade.

Hi Ian
The cats and the grader havent earned too much yet.The D4 is clearing some acreage i have, the D2 's are just keeping the the others company.I picked up the grader just keep the snow away ,worked great this year didnt see 2inches all winter. The Bucryrus crane drives piles and does some clamshell work for once in a while, pays for fuel and grease for the rest.

Ill try and get some clearing pics soon

Regards
Dave

Hi Dave ,Sounds like you that better not sell that grader ,otherwise you might end up with record snow falls . Ian .

I think the single cylinders were for tractors that were used in the woods for skidding logs. The single cylinder was for better visability for seeing stumps up ahead. You had a skidding tractor but had cylinder for a blade if needed that was out of the way for seeing in place of the two on each side.

Hello
I have thought of putting tilt cylinders on the D4.The cylinders and plumbing are no prob, but im wondering how to set up a second control valve. The hyd tank only has one spool or am i missing something.Id like to try and keep it stock,no extra pumps or add on stuff if possible.Any thoughts on this?
Regards Dave

Easiest way (if you can find one) is turn in your 48E series single valve tank and valve for a 49E series two valve or a 55E series that has the third auxiliary external mount valve capability.

There is one snag though... the single cylinder dozer uses a 35 gpm pump and the regular 1, 2, 3 valve units use a 29 gpm pump.

It's never that easy.....
