I'm curious as to what year and if anyone could give me some specs on my machine. I'm a first time dozer owner and ran across this D4d with a hyster d4e winch for $7500
Serial number is 82j1871. What's the weight? Horsepower?

That's a very fair price for a D4D. At that price if it runs and moves buy it quick or tell us where it is. You can always find out the year later.

Well I bought it about a month ago, but I haven't a clue how to read the serial number and such to verify age and weight. Honestly I'm more concerned about knowing the weight so I know what size trailer to get! Lol. The dozer runs fine, I've been pushing ever so hundred tons of creek rock and dirt with it and it's a very good stout machine.

That's a 1970 model with 65 hp D330c engine.
Bare tractor weight is about 15,000 lbs. You'd have to add up all the attachments weights, winch, fair lead, angle blade, hydraulic control unit, rops, etc. I don't have all of those weights. I'd guess in the 22,000 lb range. Need to hear from someone that has scaled a similar model.

Awesome! Thanks a bunch. I've got my eye on a tri-axle pintle hitch trailer that should do the job. It's got a manual 6 way blade, Hyster D4E winch with fair leads and a 10' blade. Seems like a solidly built machine.
Do they make good dozers?

Yes, they are a pretty good dozer. You are high enough s/n to use the D330c engine which is almost the same as the later 3304.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
