First POST:
Well I bought an old 955C 12A from an Auction the other day for $1250.00.

The Engine is Stuck it seems. I have tried turning the Crank and cant get it to turn with a large 1'' breaker bar and 2 3/4'' socket. I did pull the Valve Cover and "injectors" and put Marvel Mystery oil in and let it sit.

Any other Ideas before I try to pull the Head and Pan for inspection?

This Tractor has no pony motor and has been converted at some point to an electric start.

I have reviewed these posts:

http://www.acmoc.org/bb/showthread.php?8743-Traxcavator-955-12A-the-next-phase/page2&highlight=955

http://www.acmoc.org/bb/showthread.php?8790-Traxcavator-955-12A-ready-to-drop-the-pan&highlight=955

Ayone know what Service manuals i can purchace to assist me on working on this Tractor?

Any additional information could be helpful.
Thanks!

I am also looking for information surrounding this engine. Torque specifications on the head bolts, pattern to tighten them in, and wear information on the crank etc. I would be willing to buy a service manual if someone could point me in the right direction. CAT seems unable to identify what book I should buy.

Yes, there are manuals available. Some folks sell reprints, I was able to find decent used originals, plus the previous owner had a few manuals. Your machine has a D315 engine which should be pretty common manuals (service and parts) to find. I also have the 955 12A service manual and parts manual.
I would highly doubt you could find any NOS Cat manuals, but never say never.
Congrats on your purchase and have fun.

Jeff T. You say you have the 955 12A service manual? Can you provide any information that may enable me to get CAT to print me one up?

I can find a part manual, but I need a Service Manual for the 95512A, and for the D315 Engine.

Any assistance appreciated I cannot find one anywhere.

Hi Team,
the said machine is (put simply) a variation of the D4 of the day with the bucket attachments. There are differences but the books below will get you there, as that is all we had at The Dealer back in the day.
For the D315 engine you need a :- 4 1/2" Bore 4 Cylinder Diesel Engine Servicemen's Reference Book, Form No FEO 30522
For the Tractor section you need the D4 SRB, sorry I do not have one to get the Form No from.
For the Traxcavator section you need a Service Information for Caterpillar No 955 Traxcavator book, Form No 32225.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
