No spacer plate needed. Any D7D or D7E shaft should work.
Is that for sure, big difference in back end bolt pattern between the D7D and the E.?
Doesn't work looking at towing winch mountings.
Oh thats right Mag! I forgot, my clutch is slipping again, ding dang!
You still may be right, I'm just not sure. Looks like the #25 picks up both the 6 bolt circle of the early D7's as well as the later 8 bolt circle. The two large stud locations at the top look to be the same. It's the rest of the large studs that are used for the towing winch that don't interchange.

I was thinking they did fit both but the covers are different.
The rear patern bolts is different for 17a and d7e
Don't give up yet. The #25 fits D6 (with adapter), the d7 and the D8. Looks to me like the D7E has the same CCU mounting pattern as the D8. Yes, the covers are different, 6-bolt vs 8-bolt but the #25 looks to accommodate both.
Damned if I can tell, here's the mounting flange of a #29/#127 that would normally go on the D7E DD.
I will add my 2 cents worth. In 1979, so memory is fuzzy. We borrowed a Cat 25 cable unit and a Cat ripper from a neighbor that had a 17A to put on our D7E 47A.The cable unit bolted up fine.We had to have a shaft special made as we could not find one.I also believe we had to take off one lever and even modify the other used, to clear fuel tank
