Looking for pictures/information on a Caterpillar model 36 combine. We are doing a partial restore and would like to know color and locations of the logos/detailing - thank you.

Tim - I have a parts book for No. D-2545 up, but it doesn't answer your questions. The only thing it shows are block letters down the radiator side plates THIRTY SIX. You need an advertising brochure, I have no recollection of the color of the angle and channel pieces of the structure. Depending on the year of your machine there would probably be a wiggley Caterpillar in several locations.

It seems to me I have some 36A combine parts books (approx. 1930s big fat manuals I would part with) but I think they are John Deere. Funny thing is, if they are John Deere, they have cat engines. The manuals do not say they use CAT engines but I know they do. I have two of the engines (would love to get rid of them). I am wondering if we are talking about the same type combine. Did both CAT and John Deere make 36 combines at the same time?

Some were a long the line Cat sold all combine business to JD. They made the 36 model until the mid 1950's.The only change I know of was JD used a Hercules engine.
