The following photos are of the construction of the Medicine Creek Dam near Cambridge Nebraska in 1948. I had sent an email to the Bureau of Reclamation asking if they had some old photos and VIOLA, they emailed me these back. This my first memories of construction equipment as the dam was about 50 miles from my home and I was only about 4 when these were taken. The Cats seemed gigantic to a little kid.

D4Jim,

Great pictures. The old iron is impressive. Just think of all the great projects that were done yesteryears with the great old machines. All the damns, highways, and infrastructure that was built by old CATS.😄

Please posts some BIG projects using 40 cans😮 Thanks-Glen

D4Jim, wonderful old black and white photos. Clicking on them to enlargen them made the details jump out at you. Thanks for posting. GWH

Well, the crawler pulling a scraper looks like an AC hooked to a LeTourneau scraper. And the tractor hooked to the 'dump' wagon looks like an old Euclid maybe.
