I sent a GV-4 magneto to Craig's Magnetos in Redding California in March of 2016. I had used Craig several times over the past few years and been happy with his service. This event turned out to be different.

Originally he said he needed 2 months to turn it around. After 4 months I called him and was reassured it was in progress. After that I was unable to connect with him anymore.

Today I sent him a text and he responed, not what I wanted to hear but kinda weird and funny at the same time,

Me: "Please send my Eisemann GV-4 back to Gary Ca. Mailed to you in box with Crystal Cove Farms label on 3/12/16."

Craig: "Oh I sold that to Lenny, but I still have the box."

Me: "Guess you owe me a mag. I called on the mag probably 4 or 5 times during the last year."

Craig: "They sell these cool fidget spinners at the gas station, how bout dat. (He included a picture)

Me: "You better call Lenny and get my mag back."

Craig: "Oh did I say Lenny? I meant Eduardo, sorry. Yeah Lenny won a pick six in Santa Anita and he's hard to get a hold of. I'll call around and see if I can get the chrome fidget spinners."

Me: "See you in small claims court."

Craig: "You better pack a lunch, son, I hear this stuff all day long and you all wuss out in the in the end and lose."

If any of you see Lenny or Eduardo, tell them I would like my mag back. Hopefully no one else has been through this with him.

Gary,

This guy appears to have really flipped out! I am glad you brought this to the forum. No need to work with someone like him when there are many others who can do the job and do it right! Sorry that you have had this experience.

I did not get to see you at SM if you were there. I missed many others who I wanted to meet or renew old acquaintances.

Sounds like the same deal as Empire motors !! I had real good success on four maggys from http://www.mainelymagnetos.com/ and were great people to deal with!
I thought I posted a pic of one of the mags from him in an earlier post!

Wow...so sorry to hear. Sounds like he has serious issues as no one with a one time good reputation would ever treat a customer like that. I would have to believe he has an addiction of some sort as his conversation with you was really 'out there'. You are doing the right thing by posting this and saving others from the same issues. Carry through with small claims court, it seems he's quite familiar with the process, which in itself says alot.
Help others by sharing this post in other forums which may use his (un)service.

You might find out you have to file the case in the county where the fraud happened, if its a long way it might not be worth it for the $$ but the satisfaction.

I think I would make a road trip for a one on one visit.

Is it possible you have a wrong number, almost sounds like a kid on the other end messing with you ?

Hey garyca,

That sucks... it seems people today with the Internet and Texting are getting braver with their rudeness and behaviors. Thanks for posting. I was looking for a Mag Shop. Maybe I'll call him today and let him know his shop is not the one for me!:nono:

I did use the phone number programed into my contacts that I used before. I guess it is possible that someone else has his phone. But the last time I spoke with him he did seem a little scattered and he told me he found my box. I remember thinking that I needed the mag and not the box.

On his website it shows a calendar with Santa Margarita highlighted, he must have gone? Was he a vendor? Advertiser?

http://www.craigsmagneto.com/

Anyone else know the guy? Something doesn't sound right, unless he misplaced it and forgot who's it was, maybe he's going senile.

If you sue him, make sure you add that fidget spinner in to the claim, he said he'd hook you up, hold him to it.

I called the number on his web-site 5 or 6 times the past two months and nobody even answered the phone. I sent him an e mail 4 weeks ago and asked him if he was going to Santa Margarita. No reply to the e mail !!
Our members need to find another resource for mag repairs.

Hi Gary,
Something sounds wrong. Did you actually talk to him on the phone? I will be going to Brooks Oregon to the Great Oregon Steam Up Show the end of July. Craig is usually there. I'll check it out for you. I have done business with Craig in the past. He's expensive and takes a while to do the work, but does a good job. This does not sound like him...............Frank

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
