Deebo and myself are always on the prowl for more magazine content. This was a regular drill from our previous editor/volunteer Jan Meermans (Thank you Jan). If anyone would like to share, please reach out to one of us or a director. It is always fun to hear of the first machine you drove or how you "poached" a machine from a neighbor or "friend". Plenty of interesting stories out there that shouldn't be kept secret!
Many folks do not utilize the website and rely solely on their magazine for entertainment. Pictures are great and some cool stories would be nice!
In my limited "spare" time, I will be reaching out to folks on the West Coast for content, and perhaps find a new toy along the way. Please don't be shy if I ask for your photograph or want to sneak a peek at some gem hidden away from prying eyes!
Thank you all, JM
The club is yours - please try to contribute and keep the legacy alive. No special talent is required to tell your story! The only part that is difficult is getting started - give it a try. There is always someone that will do what they can to help. -- see your story in print soon! -- cts
I wish I had the time to do it but I think a very interesting article(s) would be the "Cats" built by the American Car and Foundry during WWII in I believe it was Berwick PA. It was pretty much hush hush by Caterpillar as I don't think Cat wanted it known. Supposedly some of he D7's had an extra track roller but I have never seen any verification of it.
David Doyle mentions it in a book of his "The D7 Tractor" and the Stuart Tank Museum has a lot of information on the ACF. It was discussed on the website years back but I am not sure it ever got into the magazine.
Cats Forever
I had lunch today with 17AFarmer, the guy that owns this tractor.I told him he needs to tell the story how he came about putting a D7E engine in his 17A for the magazine. This is a working show tractor that is fun to drive.

Hi, D4Jim.
Given the 'rather poor' - like almost never - record of member submitted 'ar-tickles' actually making it to publication, I would suggest NOT holding your breath, but there may just be one such 'ar-tickle' in the pipeline.
How do I know from the far side of the Pacific 'puddle'? No names, no pack drill.
Just my 0.02.
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
