I need to know how to time my mag on my pony motor. This is a 5r d6 with the 4600 engine. I changed the condenser and got the rotor set wrong. It runs but it runs ruff and and dies.

What kind of mag do you have?

I am familiar with the one on the 9u where the rotor will only fit one way.
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

Not sure what mag it is. The rotor is like a gear that can go on anywhere on the mag. Lost my book so don't know where to point it. I cant even remember which cyl is number one.

If you look closely at the teeth on both gears there should be a mark of some sort. I have seen two dots on the mag one and a clipped tooth on the rotor before.
