Following the successful introduction of the first Machine landing page covering the D2 tractor, your Webtech committee is now embarking on the rollout of this new feature to other models of Caterpillar equipment. To this end, Kurt (FroghairFarm) has volunteered to create a page for the D4 tractor and I have just created one for the R2 (J series) tractors.

As well as inviting other members to join this exciting project and create a machine landing page for their favourite machine (assuming it has not already been created), I would also like to invite "Peer Review" of the documents we create to ensure that they are as accurate as possible.

If there are any R2 (J series) experts out there please take a look at my R2 document below and let me know of any errors and/or suggested changes.

by tractor fuel i assume you mean power kerosene. many piece of farm machinery ran on power kero. it actually had more power the the petrol of the day due to the oil content.
a rough aproximation is to get jet-A and add some 2 stroke oil to bring the oil level up. i cant remember the mix ratio.

"i reject your reality and substitute my own" - adam savage. i suspect my final words maybe "well shit, that didnt work"

instead of perfection some times we just have to accept practicality

Hi, This type of fuel is known by different names in different parts of the world. Caterpillar refer to it as "Tractor Fuel" in their documents, here in the UK it is called TVO (Tractor Vaporising Oil) and in Australia power kerosene. A reasonable substitute for TVO can be made by mixing 4 gallons of 28 second heating oil, one gallon of petrol (gasoline) and a quart of diesel.
You had to start on petrol and warm the engine up before switching over to TVO. Before stopping the engine for the day you had to switch back to petrol so the carb was full of petrol ready for the next days start.

Machine landing pages are now getting traction (well Cat were always good in the traction department  ! ).
Pages are in preparation for the D4, FIFTY and SEVENTY tractors and the 212 grader.
Does anyone else want to help?

Hi, Thanks for volunteering. A normal picture taken by a phone or digital camera will be just fine.
Perhaps if you could take a few pictures showing the tractor from different angles similar to the ones on the existing machine pages.

I'm happy to give you credit for the pictures in the published document if you would like me to.

I'll look through my two 1957 955C's and a 1960 955E for some pictures if interested.
I'll also go through the Late 1954 No.12 8T and a Late 1945 No.12 9K if interested.
I personally love these pictures but it does not show them in their best angles. For now ugly muddy snow banks will not work but when things green up a bit.
