While puttin grease to the fittings i came across a dipstick near the base on my steering levers. I pulled it to find only a smidge. Is this my gearbox dipstick? I dont have any maintenance manuals. Is the huge hex pocket screw plug the fill location? And can I add the sae 30wt there?.. Also Do I have a wet clutch?

Jake,

The dipstick is for the tranny. .if you change oil it'll take around 6 gallons. The large hex plug is the fill hole and I'd use 80W-90 rather than 30 wt oil. As far as a wet clutch, you'd either have to post a serial number or just remove the access cover and take a look.

Normally the HT4 is to early to have an oil clutch. If it did there would be another dipstick up by your right foot and a big fill plug in the clutch inspection cover.

Jake,

For filling the finals, you just take the countersunk hex fill plugs at the rear of the finals out and fill 'til the level of the 80W90 is even with the top of the hole, reinstall the plugs and you're good to go.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
