Hey Swishy,

Air cylinders open and close the expando suspension together or apart from 8.5' to 10' of travel. A purple weight chart in California from 4 tire group 8' wide is about 48,000 lbs on a tandem set of axles, where a 8 tire 10' will get you 60,000 lbs on a tandem group of axles.

Is the RSend pinned or does it rely on the full air cylinders to keep the expando RSend suspension in/out

Between terroizing the rds n the fone we have n a go @ making a Folding Gooseneck Expando
to get best benefit from the Govt weight wise
they say
rows of 8 can run MT @ 8'10" wide
@ 8'10" wide with a bogie spread @ 6' we get 24t
@11'5" " " " " " we get 31t
not to exceed 10' overall width in peek hour traffic (6am-9am .......... 4pm-6pm = 28t
So we need to be able to fix RSend width to @ least 3 positions
Thanx for the info Glen

Swish Man I have been watching this build with great interest on the other truck forum

Are you gunna have it a swing wing type set up like a Drake up the front or some other idea ????

Is your gunna make it hydraulic IH had series of farm rams that had built in adjustable stops so us silly farmers could always drop the implement back in the same depth again and they worked very well were simple to adjust
A lot of the farm implements have real simple adjustable stops that lock things in place at easily set and adjustable spots

Back in th@ era most trailer makers had a go @ make n widners
normally a 2 hour job to widen/narro for 2 men n a few jacks etc
we stihl have our V: in the grave yard went 10' 11' 12' 13' with a narro tapered scraper neck

Swishy, can you remind me what the SAR rules are that had the cab sitting up like that? Are they still in play or superseded?

Neil
Gudday m8

many moons ago we had a very strict length law along the East Coast of Australia
Wen the 1st batch of KW 'S' models arrived from yanky land they had a BBC 90"
n with the need for speed or more power
KW Australia developed there own V: in 1975 (@ 102" BBC KW Short AustralianRighthanddrive)
the cab was mounted high so a more efficient radiator & cooling package could B offered n allow the heat build up escape out under the rear of cab

The KW SAR was very successful th@ lasted bout 11 years (1975- 1986)
so wen they stopped makin the SAR they went included the SAR name in a few later models

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
