I just stopped by my cousins equipment yard and realized there are at least 20 different CAT and HOLT tractors along with an amazing amount of old trucks, rubber tired tractors, etc., This stuff is for sale but not actively being sold. I do not have a number but I can say where it is: Town of Corning, calif. The equip yard is on "old 99" a couple hundred yards South of the "South ave exit" off hwy 5. As I look out the gate I am looking at Hwy 5 about a hundred yards West. There are two exits off Hwy 5 into Corning. I am talking about the South exit of the two exits. I will try to get an address and number. I am not putting this on ACMOC not to help my cousin but to tell those interested about a whole lot of old iron just sitting there rusting. My cousin does not use the internet and doesn't run the yard much anymore so the place is usually closed. There are ackres of neat old stuff. I asked for a list years ago but he never gets around to it.

When did it come up for sale Its few miles from my house and have been trying to buy stuff for 12 yrs and he says nothing for sale. When I took train back to Bowling Green last year he was on the train with us and sat with dinner and I asked him again and said he wasn't ready to sell anything yet. Guess Ill have to go check again only a few Cat things there but lots of other nice machinery. If he wants to sell Ill take some pics and post.
Do you still have all your parts??

Yes I still have all the parts. I have put in shelving and have organized parts as well as I can given space limitations. Too much small stuff (rings, bearings, etc.,) to look up all the numbers but I am getting the big stuff cataloged.
My cousin will sell parts/tractors. he just hates to let old iron go.

I do have lots of parts but I don't know what they are for. I have micro-fiche and viewer but when I look up parts they are listed, but what they are used for is mostly a mystery. They will show only as used in a D6, not where in the D6. I've got a 1937 D6, some Diesel 40s, D8 8Rs, D8 2Us, and some D2s. so I only sell those parts that do not fit those tractors. Since I don't know what most of this stuff is I hesitate to sell anything as I might need it later. Some parts are numerous, like rebuilt rods (for D😎 still in the boxes that I would sell some of them. I know I will not need 18 of them. There are many transmission gears new and used that I have a dozen of (same numbers) and I know I will never need all those. But until I know exactly what I have I hesitate to sell. There are some engines I'd sell. Like the two rare Cat engines out of 36A combines (1937) I think. These have the fan in the rear, with the drive up over the engines. I watch this site and when I see somebody in a bind I look to see if I have those parts. I've sold a few items (new pony crankshaft, Diesel 60 tranny gears etc.), to those in need. I am getting old enough that operating a D8 8R for more than half a day is rough on me. I still have lots of work to do. I suspect at some time in the not so distant future I will sell everything and buy something newer and less physically demanding. I use these tractors on my very rough wilderness property. You can get a lot of work done with a D8 and some dynamite. Actuall, about 20 yards of road a day with a three man crew in solid lava, on a very steep sidehill. It's taken me 30 years to get through to the back of the property. I got through last year.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
