Against my better judgment, I took the key out of my D4 so the local kids wouldn't screw around with it...and proceeded to lose the key. 😕

Any trick to jumping the contacts on the switch?

Is this a standard key from Cat? Give them my S/N or something?

Thanks

If it's the 2-prong type key I think they're all the same...Cat has them.

Thanks. I guess I'll go ahead and get a couple. I've got to get this thing fired up tonight to help out a neighbor who's trying to finish plowing his field so he can start planting tomorrow.

In terms of "hotwiring"...I'm not at the dozer now....I"m guessing I can jsut remove one terminal and bolt it onto the other?

Should be able to if it's like my D6...the key switch is just a battery disconnect and starter switch is separate.

It should be just a battery disconnect switch. There is supposedly a slight variation in the "old" style keys verses the "new" style. I never investigated this statement so someone may need to correct me? I do know these keys are available (probably cheaper) on Ebay.
Look at the back of the switch and D6c10k should be right in that it should have the 2 battery cables bolted on to it. Just bolt them together.

Yeah, thanks, that's what I did. Pretty simple, really.
