Hi guys,

We're looking for a set of contacts (points) & condenser for the starting engine on a D7E 48-series.

Bear in mind that we're located in South Africa.
Local CAT agents non-compriendo regarding availability

Thanks

Not all that easy😉
From the 48A1- up parts book the mag is a Cat #7M4700
The condenser is a Cat #2M2757
The points are only offered in the Cat #7M7859 overhaul kit (which includes condenser).
This is a Wico magneto and to get to the individual parts the Cat to Wico equivalent conversion number is required (I don't have) then approach source for Wico magneto parts.

This might get you closer:
From the 47A3396-up parts book:
The mag shown is a Cat #3S2987 which crosses to a Wico # XH2823S
Uses the same #7M7859 overhaul kit.
Hope this helps

Hi Josh,
On further checking a little help required😊
The "contact" kit 7M760 list includes cam wiper felt, contact group and screw assembly.
The "overhaul" kit list includes gasket, oil seal, bearing, oil slinger, carbon & and spring group, ground connection group, breaker contact group, condenser group and screw assembly.

Is the "contact group & screw assembly" the same as the "breaker contact group"?????

Maybe the Wico version would clarify. Thanks

Hi OM,
Sorry to say but my information does not have a break down of what is in the "kits"
My numerical parts record has a cross reference section of part numbers from Caterpillar suppliers to Cat and visa-versa,
I seem to be able to cross most of the suppliers part numbers on our "classic" tractors,
Josh

Chicago Magneto also has the parts you need. It is a Wico mag.
