I've been waiting some time for my manifolds to come back from California - hopefully repaired. I received a couple back today (looks like the intake part) - not mine, have no idea whose they are. They have an L760? part number on them. Would anyone know what these fit?
I had sent an old style model 30 manifold so you can about guess my expression when I opened the box. I'll be calling the place back tomorrow and seeing what's going on. Hopefully they know where mine are.

Are the parts from Guy Reed at Lock n stitch?
I sent him a Twenty intake manifold for repair and have been waiting a long time for it, sounds like the right part number?

Can you post a picture of one? The number on the manifold isn't in my 30 parts book. I don't have a twenty to compare part numbers either.

I still need to send them back so that hopefully they'll get to the right people. Hopefully someone will do the same for my manifolds. I've waited around 22 months. I feel like I should be on the next flight to California.

Brian do you still have the old D4 around that you hauled from here in PA?? Last I knew you had added a winch to it and talked about selling it. Just curious where the old girl ever ended up.

Brian - If any repair shop gave me the run-around like you've got .. I'd be burning some ears, big time, in their managers office.
Your story shows a pathetic performance by someone who is supposed to be operating a professional business and repair operation.
These people are in business to provide a service .. and they obviously aren't providing it.

I'd be letting everyone on the BB, know the precise story behind the delays .. wrong parts returned .. and any other problems, that would make people steer clear of an operator that cannot even provide a good basic service.

I'd also advise the Better Business Bureau, of any complaints you have on this bunch of cowboy operators, so they can add them to their warning list ..

You pay people good money to do work for you .. the least they can do, is provide a satisfactory performance, inline with any reasonable persons expectation. Losing items .. losing orders .. sending wrong items .. is all symbolic of a business that is badly run, in turmoil, and liable to go bankrupt at any time. You don't need to deal with people of such poor ability.

I have been on the receiving end of my share of similar style operations .. and the roasting I gave them all, would make Willie proud. They either smartened up their act, or went broke, within a short space of time.
Additionally, letters to management (and keeping good records of any correspondence) are an ideal way to sort out problems.
People hate written complaints .. they are more effective than verbal complaints, and have to be acted on, and filed.

It went to another collector in Northern Indiana if I remember correctly. Wish I could have kept it but it didn't work out that way. Back is better now and I wish I had put it in long term storage rather than selling it.

Still running your drag line for the pond?

Yeah I am still digging mud, I pile it up and once it's dry I push it around with the D4 and put it where I want it, slow process but it keeps me out of trouble.

Lock ‘n Stitch messed up a project for me in 1997. The project took them two days to weld at 900°F. We had to remove the weld, porosity, and find a new shop to get it done right. Lock ’n Stitch did not get paid.

I like the threaded fastener system they have for casting repair; although have not used it. It looked like a useful system and with fewer problems than that generated by welding cast iron. But if they are a complete mess…

I was hoping my experience was an isolated case.
