My Uncle Warren says the trick to living to 100 is "don't fall down".Wished I listened better. Went to climb up on my D6-9U to push a burn pile-slipped on some ice on the trunion-fell and cracked three ribs--sneezed a week later and thought somebody shot me.
Doesn't take much to fall.
At 62 healing takes much longer.
Still playing with Cats-just moving slower. Be carefull out there.

sorry to hear about your accident, but i guess it could have been a lot worse. I worry about my grandpa getting on and off of his tractors all the time.

I do hope that you heal quickly, I have a freind who has been in the grading bus. for 65 years and two years ago he sliped while crawling up on his D7 and broke his leg.
Several years before that while working with his dozer a limb poped him in the eye and he lost the eye. But at 84 yrs. old his is still going and loves his old cats. Be careful and keep dozing.

I think broken ribs are about the worst "non serious" injury you can have! Try not to cough😆
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

Hope your better soon.Know what your talking about.I keep looking for places for more hand holds and steps that don't get in the way of other things on my 9u's.The one I have used the most lately doesn't have flat step in the sprocket cover,(farm tractor no blade)so I added a piece of flat strap so now have something to bang my shin into when digging in tool box. So far so good and haven't forgotten it's there.

I fell off from a high base/skid mounted 3516 last October. Twisted my ankle, bruised a couple of ribs, then a part fell down and hit me in the face. It took along time for the ankle to heel.
A good fall is one where only your pride gets hurt.

Last august stepping down from my d8 my foot found a hole hidden by the vegetation.
My ankle twisted and broke a ligament........ In addition I had to pay someone else for the seeding ..... and for rehabilitation

My wife asked if I can find a profitable/safer activity for my leisure time.

Still waiting for a good answer ... .. suggestions ?

Thanks for the kind words.
I keep forgetting I don't have the agility of my youth--helps to have a tolerant wife and lots of bandaids.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
