Thought i'd share this stuff with the board,http://www.usasealants.com/products/blue-devil-head-gasket-sealant/ finally put water in my d69u this week and came out in the morning to find a puddle on the floor. Needless to say I was very disappointed,a friend told me about a product he used on his western star with a cat engine that he swears by and they even guarantee your money back. Bought it at my local napa store; very expensive though @ 60.00 a bottle and it took 2 to do the job.Had to flush the engine out and filled with clean water, took the regulators out and ran the engine for an hour with the pony running (to get full circulation). drained 5 gallons out , reinstalled regulators and added antifreez. It worked, been sitting for two days now and the floor is dry. I'm sold on the product and it saved alot of work!👍

possible that your head needed a good old retorque.
thats an interesting concept! rather than a retorque, fill the cooling system
with bars leak.

Did that, shaved the head and not the block, possibly a little off. This product is far superior than bars leaks. Its a liquid form of sealer, which searches out imperfections in the mating surfaces, read about it.

That appears to be the old "water glass" (sodium silicate). Been around for ever and is a good waterside sealant. Most famous recent use was to kill engines turned in on the "klunker" program by pouring it in the oil and running until unit froze up.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
