OK well as I'm sure a lot of us here have had leaking fuel or coolant valve or any tapered valve that has no packing to help it seal now lots of people have tried to use lapping compound in the attempt to reseat the valve and fix the leak but the success rate was not very good even with finest compounds that you can buy still may have a leak so here's what I did and the end result is way smoother and worked the first time I simply removed valve and cleaned it up good with soap and water than what I used as a lapping compound is a cleaning agent called Bar Keepers Friend it's designed to polish and clean brass to a minor like shine make sure you get the powder and not the liquid I just applied powder to the tapperd Surface and just lapped in by hand the first thing I felt was the movement getting smoother than you will notice it is starting kinda stick and bind up this means it is starting to really seat in now pull it apart and rinse with water inspect both surfaces and should be able to see clearly where they are seated and where it's not I would like to say you could get it perfect but really if you have good fit on the big end of the tapper should have no external leaks once you are happy with the way the surface of the valve look clean up real and I applied some grease and returned to service sorry such long post just hope this helps some one some day
