In my internet wanderings I came across this scraper. Anyone have an idea as to what size this would be. It is supposed to be a LaPlant scraper.
Thanks......Bill

Here is what I posted on the ACME site:

" Merv,
Thanks for the information.Never knew of the Allis buyout. I found my book titled "The Allis Chalmers Story" by C.H.Wendel. There it was. Built from 1947-1956 approx. 500 units. Heaped at 8-1/2 yds. Base weight of 10300 pds.

The book also has a listing for the C-20,C-40,C-44 and C-108. I found an operators/parts book on e-bay. Would be interested in seeing any other literature that is available."

The photo's that I put up are of a 106, D4D6 posted some of a 108. Look for the other thread here on ACMOC.

From what I can find the smaller models, C20-C44 were hydraulic. Looking at the information I have I do not think that what you have is a Laplante.

Do stand to be corrected.

The C-45 weighs about 4600#s The books claims it weighs 4200#s Somewhere I have weight tickets from the scale with the exact weight. That's Qball aka Kevin Flynn trying it out for the first time. If you buy it be careful running it becuase it tips very easily.

I would suggest buying it. With a little care it is a good little scraper. It loades easy and handles nice. Both times I put it on the side I was running too fast. With a little caution it would be a good unit. The C-45 operates with one hydrualic valve and the C-44 needs two, like a 40 Cat. If you can find an Ashland that would be good too. It is a little less top heavy. I paid $1800 for mine and I have about $4500 in it not counting my labor.
