Anyone going? Only 3 months away.
Sorry guys I will not be able to make it as I will be at the National Championship Air Races in Reno, Nevada. If you have never been to the races in Reno you should plan to attend some time. There is absolutely nothing like watching, feeling and hearing Merlins and Pratt and Whitney engines roaring over head at 500 +/- miles an hour. 😛lane:
OIH will have his spread working in the woods/fields at his place and this year, the DW 21 will be getting its cutting edges all shined up for the first time in ___? years. I might be able to see that happen if schedule permits.

Hi, Great Southern Land.
ONLY three months away???????????? M8, if yer gonna leave invitations like that laying around unguarded, maybe you'd better start preparing ter bee IN-vaded.
I gotta say though that I think Tom might need a priority adjustment. Putting Merlins and Pratt and Whitneys ahead of yellow paint and rumbling Cat diesels? Sacrilege! And passing up a trip DowNunder as well? LOL.
Thanks for the heads-up.
Just my 0.02.

Thinking ahead. I wonder what it would take to set up a charter trip with a plane load of ACMOC members to Down Under. Anyone have any ideas of the economics of that.
Hi, O-I-H.
Ask one of the major airlines what it would cost to set up a charter to jump the puddle. For a Boeing 777 - a 14 1/2 flight from San Francisco to Sydney - it appears to seat around 250 - 260 people at around $1,600 - $1,800 return. Do the math to get some idea of what a charter might cost.
And then you need to find 250 - 260 people who AREN'T going to air races or some WAY-outa-the-way spot in backwoods Minnesota and who have the wherewithall, the time and the desire to make the trip.
Any takers?
A kew-ree-yuss mind would like to know - if I should perhaps "toss another shrimp on the barbie." LOL.

Wasn't thinking of in three months but groups often get some pretty good rates. Would not have to fill the plane.

I'm in....good idea....let's get 40 people or so to crash Deas's pad and invade down under!!! :target:

All we need is a couple pair of shorts for clothes so maybe we can stuff our luggage with needed parts and pay for half the trip. Of course we might spend the whole trip in customs. Seriously I think it would be great fun to set up an itinerary and van around for a couple weeks learning to speak the queens modified english while visiting our Cat mates.
