Hi Jan,

I just found among my travel stuff your biz card and the flash drive you gave me at the A-Diner to send you the video of the late Glen Ghilotti presenting you with the D8 at BOTW as I promised I would do. After the great hospitality you showed me on my visit to C.A this year prior to BOTW, I feel suitably embarrassed and apologize that I did not send it to you right away on my return to AU as I said I would.

Anyhow Jan, its on its way to you via airmail to your Poway C.A address. Hope to see you at BOTW again in 2019.

Cheers

OZPhil2 and Deas-

I had completely forgotten our exchange at breakfast where the thumb drive got passed and a promise was made for a video. Thank you Phil for sending it. I will watch for it. Can't wait. Dinner is on me the next time we meet up!

I was over today at the museum helping D4Angelo with his new D2 with auxiliary belt pulley and got to give O'l Dick a "pat." He is patiently awaiting his re-built magneto so he can get started to move back to his usual parking place from his "show parking place" in front of the 1917 Holt Sidehill Harvester. He has sat around for so many years, what is one more week?

You're welcome Jan.
I've included 15 "bonus" videos I made of the 2016 BOTW Earthmoving show for you, many of them featuring typical Glen standing on the side of the borrow pit directing half a dozen machines all at the same time with his booming voice easily heard over the roar of the machines with accompanying hand signals as he loved to do.

There's even the one with Deas on the DW20 being tandem pushed with the ejector right forward with Glen bellowing and signalling from the borrow pit sidelines alerting him to the situation eventually with Glen chasing him on foot in the borrow pit with more hand signals. Deas decided he had had sufficient "operator directions" for the day from Glen and if I recall correctly, walked off the job.

Cheers
Phil

Phil,

It got here and what a fine Christmas present! Thanks to you and Deas for working that over to me. Lots of fine memories are on that thumb drive. It is so sad that three fine folks from this Club, present in those videos, are no longer with us - Willie, Glen and Ken. Enjoy life while you can!

Hi JanM.
So your thumb drive arrived, GOOD stuff. But I dunno how much I had to do with it. OzPhil shot the video. OzPhil copied it to your thumb drive. OzPhil posted it to you. Dunno where I fit in all of that.

Enjoy. I can still remember the BEE-Yooti-FULL stunned mullet expression on your face when Glen announced it. PRICELESS.

Yes, it is sad that 3 of those people are no longer with us. Let that encourage us to be more mindful of the gift of life that we still have and to cherish it and use it well.

I remember that day well. My job was to make sure Jan was there front and center in time for the presentation. I will add that trying to steer that big OX in the right direction at the right time without giving him any warning of what was about to come was a undertaking. I thought for a minute there that I was going to have to get a stick.

Deas,

When Phil and I seated across from you at breakfast arrived at how this could be done, I told him I would stop at Walgreens and buy a thumb drive. You pulled yours out of your computer and handed it to Phil! "Already done" you said or something of the sort!

Thank you friend!

Angelo, I will look into posting it here.

You’re welcome Jan. Actually Glen had asked me earlier that day to video the opening and presentation of the D8. My humble $50 Wal-Mart camera did the job. The following year show one morning Glen and I went up in his Peterbilt float to pick up some military tanks from the air museum and bring them back to the show. Half way back Glen decided the chain down needed re-engineering, there and then. So there we were stopped on the side of the 101.S re-rigging the chains and binders with cars and trucks whizzing by at full speed horns blasting just a few feet away. It was a lot of fun that show in every respect. I’m sure you will find some of those other videos of the earthmoving display shall we say “…rather interesting:heh:”. BOTW is a great show and I’ll be planning on being there a few weeks in advance again in 2019.
Cheers
