Hi, Roly66V.
Not quite. Buster Peterson put together a tandem 657 set-up for Peter Kiewit back in, I think, the late 1960's then went and put three of them coupled up with one operator for the same contract. I heard that after that contract was done, Peter Kiewit bought another 657, took the back one off the triple set-up and made a third double set-up.

Then there are all the double and triple hook-ups that LeTourneau built. There are a swag of videos on Youtube showing some of them at play. Look for 'LeTourneaudude'.

I don't know how those various arrangements compare for capacity and horsepower but I suspect that quite a few of them had the TTSS40's beat in both departments.

Personally, I think it is a pity that no video has so far appeared showing the Western 2000 diesel-electric wheeled dozer at work loading the TS40's with Western Contracting back in the later 1960's and 1970's. Rumour has it that that beast would load a TS40 quicker than 3 x D9G's. Well, so it oughta. It had 'em out-gunned by about 450 horsepower and had possibly 30 tons, maybe more, in weight over and above 3 x D9G cushion-blade pushers.

Hope this helps.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Deas,is this the pusher you are referring to? I took this screenshot off of Murls Video

The thread about the 38 yard scraper got me here.
Murl was my brother in law and has since passed.I do remember him telling me about the pusher in the video.Just don't remember all he said about it.If it was a diesel electric or not.Sure do miss hearing his stories of equipment he operated

By the way how many yards did the triples carry?
Murl said the TSS40 could easily haul 100 yards heaped up and travel 60 miles an hour empty

Hi, gary in CA.
Nope. That 'little puppie' izza Hough D500 dozer.

Here is an article about the Western 2000 dozer kindly sent to me some years ago by Tim Twitchell. I hope the various scans come out in the right order.

Hi, Rome K/G.
I am pretty sure that the scraper in your first photo is a Euclid TTSS40 - 2 bowls at round 38 cubic yards each and 3 screamin' 'Jimmie' diesels.

The biggest single bowl scraper of which I am aware would be this 'Tonka toy' from MRS.
