We have been doing this for several years, but this is the first time we got a Cat involved. We had a 17A on a 6-16 pull plow in 3rd gear and it just played with it, even in the tough gumbo. Had almost 40 bottoms total and plowed about 70 acres of corn stalk ground.
Hi, FarmerFred.
It's good to see these old-timers, both man and machine, still active and doing things. Thanks for sharing.
I have NO experience of moldboard plows but I gather that 6-16 bottom plow would be a fair load so, for us uninitiated and by way of comparison, how would a 100 hp 4wd or FWA wheel tractor go with the same load? All the plowing I ever did was with what I think you 'top-siders' call a one-way disc plow, sometimes two in tandem, or sometimes with offset discs.
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
