I saw this 12F outside of Elgin OR Friday and the spare tire mount caught my eye. I know cell service is sketchy there, so calling a tire man at 2AM rolling snow is hard to do. I sure would not want to be changing the tire in the middle of the night during a snowstorm 40 miles from the nearest "civilization.

And, I apologize for the photo, I still cannot make them stand up straight, even following the instructions.

I'm not afraid of hard work; I can lay down beside it anytime and take a nap.

Hi, Jumbo.
Does this look better?

Looks like some of O-I-H's mates might have had something to do with the tire fitting on the drive. LOL. I suspect that they might have fitted all 4 the same way and then discovered when they came to put them on the machine that 1/2 of 'em needed to be the other way around.

Just my 0.02.

Hi, Hillbillybjopkr.
I'm only guessing here but it might be for a snow plow wing.

i used to mount tires backwards on one axle to help back out of mud. maybe this is just a different adaptation of that?

Yes, that is for a snow wing and the part that the spare tire is sitting on, is also part of it. I noticed right away about the tires being mounted the wrong way. catskinner

With the Cat 518 skidder setting next to the grader it is obvious that the owner is a logger. I am certain that he goes around and around the mountain working his way to the top so he only turns one way. Hence he runs the tires as he does. Coming down he does not need the traction. :confused2: :confused2: :confused2:
