hello CatDW20, i have a d337 service book for engine 37b1 -38b1 up that i can copy if the info on adjustment if it would help ,bruce oz
There are two different D337 engines and the early one is just the D337 and the later totally different engine is a D337F so you really need the SN of the machine to get the correct valve settings. The two that Bruce mentioned the 37B and 38B is the later D337F.The F series were turbo charged and the older just D337 were a gear driven roots blower type engine.I,ve rebuilt lots of both the engines but don,t have a spec. for them with the hyd. lifter setting right here and been so many years since I retired I can,t remember the procedure for them.
hello sj ,CatDW20, thank for the info ,i should have put the serial numbers in the post ,
setting in first post are for serial numbers -dw20 -57c,67c,87e,88e and engine 37b,38b

Thank you Bruce Oz and SJ for all of your help! I have a DW10 and 5 DW20s! They are the best machines! Don't make them like that any more, do they?
I got onto your website, Bruce and am amazed at everything you have taken pictures of! It would be very helpful to me if you have the specs for the D337.
I have added your site to my favorites and will check it out often!
Thanks again for your help! By the way, the D337 is the 87E model!
hello CatDW20,thank you for the ok on the web page ,took heaps of pic of the 22 so i could put it back together again ,lol,
i have 2 books for the d337 ,one book is just the d337 37b1 -38b1 and the service manual for the dw20 and other models that used the engine ,
i am away this weekend ,but will be back home on Monday ,if you post what else you need i will scan them and post,
hydraulic lash adjuster ?

bruce oz
Thanks for the offer, Bruce! I am working on it now and will let you know by the end of the weekend if I need anything else.
I really do appreciate all you help. Do you own alot of CAT equipment? People laugh at me (or hate me) but there is not much of anything but CAT equipment on my property! People know better!! LOL!
hello CatDW20, have owned only 2 cat twenty two's ,operator for a few yrs ,in the 80's when there was'nt much work around ,ended up working for Alcoa ,been there 23 yrs now ,just collect cat books now after selling the last 22 a few yrs ago ,its not much cheaper than owning a machine ,i keep buying the power ball tickets 😄 ,but not luck yet ,be a yard full if the winner comes home ,lol, bruce oz
The 87E would have the later D337F engine in it.The 67C is when the 337F was started to be used in them and yours is the later DW20 with the 337F.
