I have a D6 #2H7063WSP. Recently the main engine slowed down then quit. Fired up pony motor and cracked open pump to injector line connections on top of injector pumps. Two of the three pumped lots of fuel. All three bleeder valves dump major fuel if opened.
I have spare injector pumps #6B5791. The paper wrappers on injector pumps say "5 1/4 and 5 3/4 Bore engines only". Is this number pump "6B5791 suitable for use on tractor/eng #2H7063. I can not find "Bore" in any of my manuals so I do not know the bore of my engine.
Also, shouldn't the main engine have continued to run with one cylinder down? I would have expected it to keep running although poorly. If it should have kept running I have at least one more problem.

Remove side cover plate on the injection pump housing and check to see if the 3rd pump plunger is rising and falling as the engine rotates. I am betting it is stuck up and not coming back down. This would also lock the rack in whatever position it was in when the plunger stuck. That would potentially allow the engine to die under the existing load because its power would be cut to 2/3 from the steady state condition it was at. It would also set the engine up for a runaway event if restarted unless it was already at low idle when this happened. The key to this is what the engine was doing when the plunger/rack got stuck.

Sorry I don't have a book to check the pumps. But you might be able to take a screwdriver and some WD40 etc and work the existing pump's plunger up and down manually until it frees up and follows the cam profile properly as the engine rotates. Also check to see that the rack is free and moves back and forth before trying to start it again. Remember that the decompression lever should stop the engine or at least control rpm if it runs away! Always a good idea to have a plan in mind when there may be problems that could cause a runaway.
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

Engine is a D6600 5-3/4" bore.
6B5791 is an equivalent number to the original 2A4434 pump

Thanks guys I needed all the info I got. Jersey you nailed it on the head so far. When I started it (first time in years) it ran away. Lucky it stopped on its own although for a very short time (couple seconds maybe) it ran up way to fast and I was not ready. Kept hand on decompresson lever on next start but it did not run up. I ran it 1/4 mi. up fairly steep grade, hooked it to the 12ft. Adams leaning wheel grader than back down steep grade then shut it off. Next start two days later. It ran fine for short time then slowly died.On my way out now to pull the side plate and have a look. Thanksd again guys.

Did exactly as Jersey suggested, used screw driver to move plunger up and down until it freed up. Main engine started easily and ran great. Thanks again guys.

Run some additive in the fuel for lubrication. This fuel made today is terrible!
