Does anyone have a good recommendation for a rebuilder.? This is not for my Cat, but is for a wheel tractor that I have. I dont mind mailing to any state for a reputable and hopefully inexpensive shop. Local shop told me to plan on $1000 or more. Any help is appreciated. Grant.
One of our Directors, Matt, has recommended Area Diesel Service before. They’ve videos on their YouTube channel of working on his pumps.

Maybe give them a call with your issue and I’m sure they’ll help you out.
Hi, GrantJ.
Dunno where you're at - no location in your profile - but I've had good service from these people while I was working over that way.
Just my 0.02.
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
There is a member on the "Heavy Equipment Forums" (thepumpguysc) the seems very knowledgeable but I don't have any direct experience. Located in South Carolina.
it pays to shop around. but the advantage of a local shop is you have someone to go back too and yell at if its not working. and the reality is until they strip it down they cant give you a real price as they dont know whats wrong with it. and of course then its price the parts before you can be given a final quote. if its a lucas/cav style pump they are quite cheap if it only needs a seal kit the seals are under 50 bucks and not that hard to do. but if it needs new vanes etc then it gets more expensive.

I will contact all of the shops mentioned. My local shop (1.5 hours away) told me minimum for inspection and reseal is $800 and said to expect 1K or more. It is a CAV. Postage to anywhere in the lower 48 is way less than 2 trips (6hours) of driving. It will be next week before I can do anything. Thanks Guys.
whats it on a fergy or a ford? sparex have the seal kits for them they also have full replacement pumps and new pump heads etc.
is it the dpa type there a rectangular one with the round nose on the end with the fuel lines off that? if so they are fairly simple. have a look on youtube at bundybearsshed lance does a couple videos on rekitting one and he know what he is doing he is a retired tractor mechanic had his own repair business and still owns a tractor spare parts business in queensland.

Grant: The closest places I "think" One of my customers used was in Ukiah (Closest to you) and other guys have to go all the way To Woodland, CA now. There used to be 2-3 shops in Yuba City, all gone. JM
It is on a IH B275, 4 cylinder and when it runs, it runs fine but if you let it sit for a couple of weeks it will start and run for 5 or 10 seconds and then die. Then the whole bleed process and takes forever to get it going again. I finally tow started it a couple of weeks ago and again , it ran fine. Let it sit for 10 days and started, ran 5 seconds and died. There is weeping around the fuel shutoff shaft and I suspect that is the problem. I will look at the videos recommended and maybe do it myself. "JM" I talked to the only shop left in Santa Rosa. I will investigate the Ukiah shop. Thanks again guys. Grant.
most likely is just seals. a set of vanes would help too.

Grant - Give John a call at Purr-Effect Diesel. He is located in Jamestown, PA. He was recommended to me by a few guys in my tractor club and they spoke highly of him. I just sent him a pump off of my tractor this week. His prices are really good too. His number is 724-932-5183.
