Any ideas what Old Tusko might sell for? $100,000 + ?
Will you loan me the money to buy it Pops? After I pay you back for the D7 you'll know I'm good for it :biggrin1:
Old Tusko is not only a famous tractor in its own right, it is one of the very first production diesel tractors ever built - the 1C series. There were only 157 tractors in this series. I don't know how many are left, but I'm sure there are people on this board who know not only how many are left, but exactly where they are.
The 1C series represents the very beginning of what we think of as modern Caterpillar company - the complete move to Peoria, diesel, and the standard Yellow. The first two tractors were gray and made in San Leandro, the rest were yellow and made in Peoria (although there is some debate about 1C3?).
The machine is so important to Caterpillar that the founders of ACMOC used 1C1 as the logo tractor.
Leffingwell's book "Caterpillar" has some more information about Old Tusko.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
Hi, Folks.
I seem to remember that Old Tusko - named after a pretty cantankerous elephant at, I think, San Francisco zoo - also held a plowing record for quite a while.
