On my 955 when I try to put grease in the hyd adjuster it will not take it on either side. The shaft on one side is clean and shiny but the other side is rusty.
Do I need to rebuild the cyclinders or is there some thing else I can try?

my 941b hyd adjustors freeze up sometimes. I open the relief valve and run the machine lightly to get them to back off and then usually i can pump grease in them and adjust the track back up. I also keep a grease saturated cloth wrapping on the exposed shafts to keep them from rusting and to keep dirt away from the seal.

I like the grease cloth idea, but would like to find a set of covers for the roller frame. Until I do and maybe after I will use a cloth. I am waiting for a nozzel to come in so I can get it running again the I might try your suggestion. Thanks.

The cyl's tend to seize between the outer surface and the front spring pilot so clean them off good and lubricate before collapsing the adjusters. You may find they will collapse but still not adjust out.

What is your adjustment reading.....seems a little far out there where they tend to cock and bind.

OM, in my operator manual it says for my model that the cyclinder can not extend more than 6 1/8 ". That is different from the 12A model. Mine is a 60A3145.
Bob, what do I do if the adjusters do not extend back out? Should I leve them alone for know because the project I am working on is a little time sensative. I have about 800 tri axle loads of dirt to move before the end of Jan.

In view of that work load and from the looks of your pic I would load 800 truck loads and then get into it. Your adjustment doesn't look all that bad but mind you if there is a lot on internal P&B wear the chains could be snakey so be careful not to turn while going over and humps or you might land off the rails. When you have time I will tell you how to force the cyls out of the pilots if you can't break them loose. Clean off good and soak with diesel fuel now.
