The correct number for the regulator would be American Bosch #RGR 640-B105A for either battery or no-battery service.
This unit would be used with a #GRB 640 -A203 Generator (ccw)(reversable)
Typically found on D2,D4,D6,D7,D8, graders, DW10,15,20,21 where there is a high lighting or other load requiring 6v up to 40 amps.
The Delco #110327 portion is not a good number....need seven digits.
The 110 portion seems ok and indicates a 24v unit.
Fiddling with the number did not bring up a Cat application although a 26T gear is one that Cat used but who knows how it got there.
A #1103027 brings up an early 24v Allis Chalmers application...maybe 28 amp.
thanks OM.
I'll check the number on the generator again. It came bolted to a cat housing/mount, but i guess that proves nothing...

Hi OM. Looking for similar info for my D4-6U-12286. The generator isn't hooked up but is there with regulator and wiring. Gen number is Delco Remy model 1102734 serial 6K18. Looks to me like the type-2 6-v setup looking at the parts manual. I think this machine had two lights front & one rear judging from wires remaining. Has "dash light", bat. box w/ammeter and electric pony start from seat. Some bad "phone" pics - Can you confim 6v TYPE 2. I assume its not being used due to issue, is there something common that fails unique to these or is it just brushes and an R&R? Will check with a meter this weekend and see if its putting out at all. Could just need field excited! Or a gunked up armature.
Thanks - Bob![]()
Yes, the 1102734 Delco generator (Cat # 8F3333) is the 6v-18a unit as referred to as type 2. It should be matched to a Cat # 8F3335 or Delco # 1118377 regulator or a Cat # 1L3468 Delco # 1118377 regulator.
At 18a 115 watt this unit is considered to be a two lamp arrangement along with battery charging. If your considering running 4 lamps it should be upgraded to at least a 200 watt unit....three is sort of in the middle and might compete with battery charging. The sealed beams require 6-8a each. (1 watt per candle power)
This is a "A" circuit generator so polarizing is done with all the regulator wires hooked up to the proper lugs and just touching a jumper between the "Bat" and "Gen" terminals at the regulator.
Most common problem is brush issues but it can grow from there.
Thank you sir. I will check this weekend. Not a bad guess for squintin' at the small print in the parts manual though, huh? I compared the pics to the drawings and the screw layout on the regulator cover seemed to indicate the TYPE 2.
I thought the D4 should only have two lights as well for the 18a looking at the part manual and the available packages. Probably a PO mod. Is there a good source for lights, mine are missing - ordered a handle L-829 from Florin tractor, maybe there?
Thanks again for your comments, I really do appreciate folks like you and the other members here, and the ACMOC. In fact, I just joined up for membership to ACMOC, yesterday. Hope I can help someone else out sometime.
