My dad retired last year and has been busy with many projects. Current one is an Oliver Cletrac he bought when I was about 10yrs old. (I remember running the winch for him in the winch truck to winch it on the trailer). It's had a very rough life. I wanted to share it's resurrection. He rebuilt the engine 20 years ago and it has been sitting so he had to tear apart again and clean up. Tractor had a seat made along with a rear weight box along with Cat handles welded on the steering brakes. This tractor had an add-on loader to it. If anyone knows where to get parts for these, please share. He's wanting to find an original seat, fenders, etc along with some other parts. Hope you enjoy...

I have a short video I tried to upload showing it running but it's not working. What format does it need to be in? And how large of a file can it be?

Thanks

That looks like an Oliver HG that later became the OC 3. Landis Zimmerman of Zimmerman Oliver Cletrac would be your best bet for parts. He is in Ephrata Pa 717 738 2573.

This seems to be the major parts source. Actually seems to be a bit of a come back of those HG models.

Thanks for the information and comments. Every step of this build has been running into some thing broken, cracked or patched up by previous owner. He has been doing a lot of fabrication along the way. Hopefully sometime I can share the story on the engine build. He ran into many problems with it along the way. I believe the loader is a name brand loader. He has books on the machine including the loader. He might eventually put the loader back on. He is trying to get this ready for a tractor show coming up in August in Winfield, KS. K&O Gas and Steam Engine show. I believe the theme this year is tracked machines. I plan to haul my 3J D2 down. Dad plans to have this Oliver going as well as take his HD-5 Allis (as well as 5 or 10 Allis wheel tractors).

Dad ordered an original seat from Zimmerman Oliver. Thanks for the tip. He got it painted up and installed.

My dad has also refused to buy a "repop" grill. So he made use of a 55 gal drum lid and some time to fix his old grill that had been hacked on. He says it's not perfect but it'll work. I think he did pretty good if you realize the hand tools he used (hammer, chisel, dolly, etc... and oxy acetylene torch) I was really impressed and wanted to share.

Very nice job on the grill:high5:

I used to load Cow Manure with one of these tractors. Very nice and handy loader tractor, a little bouncy but worked very well.

Your Dad had better go into the grille business...that's awesome.

frochevy,

Thanks for sharing your story and pictures!

Most of these smaller HC's and OC's that had a blade or loader, almost always cracked the frame on the left side. In your second picture at the top right, usually at the front or back of that U shaped cutout in the frame rail. That was the weakest spot in the structure.

Ware Company made the most common front end loader for the small Cletrac/Olivers.

They have good power to weight ratio's but hard work will reduce the tractors longevity. Not as heavily built as a Cat. Still are a great little crawler though. They worked great cleaning out stalls in barns and in other tight areas.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
