I have a 955-12A and this weekend it blew a hydraulic hose. we were able to take the hose apart as it had bolt on style ends. i thought that when I go to get a piece of hose to replace this one, i would buy enough hose to do them all, but after closer inspection I noticed that this one hose is the only one with this type of end on it.. all the rest are crimped on.

so I have a couple of questions...

1) i presume that the bolt on type are designed to be field replaceable, not requiring special machinery to make the hose... are these readily available?
2) if i have to have the other hoses built, are the crimp connectors available??

after I saw how easy the bolt on type came apart i had it in my head that i would spend an afternoon and rebuild them all, but not if they have to be made..

thanks

Rod, just call your local Cat store and they'll have the hose for you the next day. Ya you might pay $20 more but it sure is nice when the new part bolts right up and works correctly.

Gotta love those bolt together hose ends. The last ones I got were from a buddy's bone yard. .replaced all the hoses on my D4 with 'em one afternoon last summer. I much prefer them to the reusable type. .don't need anything but a wrench and rubber hammer. I've fought the screw together type a few times. .almost have to have a vise to work with 'em.
