Hey every one I am considering buying this machine and would like any input on the over all condition and value of it. It has 8400 hours on it. Supposedly "runs and operates well" the track pads look pretty worn to me. The track bushings appear to be in fairly good condition Model 7U14770 Il looks like the track adjustment nut has been welded in place. Also one of the tracks was coming apart at one joint. What year is it ? The pony crank felt pretty good not much end play or wobbling what else should I be checking out on this beauty thanks

mate I would not want to pay to much for it as the under carriage is proberly the most costly thing to fix you will chew thru thousands and thousands before you even get the undercarriage close to been fixed

as for price if you cant test drive it it is only worth scrap at least thats the way I see it

mate if you find as set of good tracks and sprockets and a couple of rollers for a good price it proberly is good deal but I guess only you can judge that, what type of machine is it based on a D6 by the look of it or is it D4 if it is either one of those the walking gear should be pretty easy to come across

which makes it worth at least scrap price, BUT I would still attempt to get it cheaper than that only because of having to buy an undercarriage to put under it.
It'll run fine around your house, as you stated it runs and operates well, but then it will start throwing tracks as soon as you try to use it for a "little" project which will only tear up parts you DON'T WANT to have to replace!

Another problem you'll have the track loader track frame is extra long. Finding a D4 undercarriage is going to be about 5-6 links short. You'll need 1 1/2 parts tractors with similar worn undercarriage along with extra rollers. Good Luck!

If the price is the true scrape price and loading and trucking are figured in go for it.If it is the pie in the sky that a lot junkies like to tell everybody, that is different. If it starts easy and you have lifting jobs you may wonder how to get along without it real quick.

this old cat is at my Nabors house and would not need to spend anything on transportation I am thinking of offering him 1000 in trade for some labor that I would do for him in concrete work. I wouldn't mind doing some work on the tracks if I knew what I was doing and knew what to look for. I love these old machines and is defiantly is mainly a hobby with a little bit of use around the house to help me justify having them. I would not intend on fully restoring it just repairing it enough to use it a little bit with out throwing the tracks. I still need to do some more inspecting of it. What motor is in this one would the pony work on My model 9k grader. Would I need special tools to work on the tracks. Specifically the photo of the link that looks like some one torched on it. What kind of tools would I need to replace those parts ?

Any advice is much appreciated, Thanks guys

Nothing on a D4 pony motor interchanges with the 9K grader.
The HT4 uses a D315 engine, the 9K uses a D4600.

You will need access to a track pin press, stationary or portable to do any serious work.
