Here is the problem, I have a model 44 hydraulic unit and the number on the tag is 7W7721 and I am leaking oil from the control levers. The Cat dealer here faxed me part breakdown from a 6F500 and a 4F8881 (the 8881 is questionable because of it being a fax) and both show only one control lever. Am I missing something or is this all I have to work with?

I guess if the tank cover gasket is available I should just dig into it and see what the seals are and match them best I can.

Any help is always appreciated, Skip in CT

There should be lots of info in the old post archives.....if you can make it work, as this has been discussed many times.

Thanks OM, I found where you posted the seal numbers last year. I will get a gasket from CAT and seals from a local guy and dive into it.

The seal numbers from cat are
1J2382 large seal
9F3847 small seal
4F4217 gasket for cover
I have replaced mine and they leaked so I did it again and installed 2 seals in each place and no leak. The original seal had 2 sealing lips and the new one only has one. Good luck

Should be a lot more info in old posts, including some quite recent.
In any event, get in to it and I'm sure any info you need can be supplied again.

yeah I performed this same task last year and might have started a thread. I got lucky and sealed it up with one of each size. The seals can be cross referenced and purchased from a bearing, belt supply house. I went as far as getting into the pump valve mechanism and replacing some o rings. Was hoping to improve the performance of the slow hyrdraulics but may have focused on wrong area..oh well got it back with new o rings anyways..good luck, pretty simply job except for fumbling all those cover bolts

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
