I was browsing the website of the new local scrap yard, and came across a pic. of what I'm certain is a 1935 D2 orchard model with 80-100% tracks, good U.C., the only bad thing(s) I can see is the wiring's a mess leading from the batterey(s) under the tank up to the side of the pony, and the hood's on all caddy-whompus.what does it weigh? what's a good price? They want $2,500.00, but I want it for free, so how much is it REALLY worth?

thanks for any replies,

Actually, if the tracks & undercarriage are that good it's probably worth that just for those parts. Stuck engines and clutches can be a real PITA and expensive to fix. I'd say if it's in or near running condition that's probably a fair price.

Just my $.02

BTW, The D2 didn't come out until 1938. If you can get a serial number we'll give you the year it was made.

While the front idler sits way back on the track frame, I wouldn't be so sure that the undercarriage is in good shape. The sand wipers (back edge of shoe) are worn down pretty good and the cleats appeasr to have been welded on shrtly before being parked.

Got any pictures from the side.

As far as the wiring being a mess, the 6V electrical system is a pretty basic thing and can be re-wred with a minimum amount of effort. Don't let that slow you down any from purchasing. I'd haggle the price, but you won't get it for free. It is worth several hundred in scrap value, and the junk yard isn't a charitable organization.
