Hello again fellas.  Can anyone tell me if you can replace the glass in my D2s hour meter housing. Everything is good except  the glass.

Hi somokiejoe70,
There is no video on how to do it. The way that I did it on my D4 and should work on the D2 is by dismantling the whole unit if you can,
1, remove the pin that holds on the gear on and remove the gear
2, remove the bearing (housing the supports the shaft) you may have to put this in a vice with soft jaws and twist and lift at the same time.
3, remove shaft,
4, remove nut on the end of the housing and remove counter,
5, use a long small screwdriver and press the glass out from the inside as the retainer is only made of lead or similar material.
6, clean all part EXCEPT counter replace seal 2A5285 in bushing.
7, as for installing new glass it is seal, glass, seal and retainer you may have to use some silicone or rtv to hold the retainer in.
8, lightly grease gear on counter then reassemble all parts in reverse order.

Hope this helps

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
