G'Day Gents,

According to the good book (original parts catalog for my RD4) the part numbers for the hour meter changed at 4G772, from 2A5325 to 2A5585. That number continued through into the early D4's. I dunno about the later ones as my D4 parts catalog was published in 1940. But I assume it stayed the same through out the 4400 engine series.

I have been offered a replacement hour meter for my RD4. It is one of the early series hour meters, and mine is supposed to be the later one. Based on that, sketchy info' at best, how likely is it that the old series hour meter, will fit and run properly on an engine that is supposed to have the later hour meter? I have absolutely no idea as to the differences.

What do you reckon? If you think it's worth giving it a go, then I will give it a go.

All help and feed back welcome.

Cheers,

Phill.

Phill - Didn't you see the posts on your previous thread? The meters are interchangeable, the only difference is the early one is a "sealed" style with no parts availability or ability to disassemble.
However, the later one is easily disassembled, and more internal parts were available for it. However, after examining Garlic Petes pics, his meter is a later style, anyway.
