looks good to me as long as it works is all that really matters and it isnt a pilot motor so its gunna be a lot easier to start
May need a tad heavier wires but I feel your onto that

Well its doing it. Compression lever to start, spin it for 10 sec then throw to run and it starts. Should mention the gear on the spline clutch shaft is 37 teeth vs the starters 10 so its geared a little. Using 2 ga. solid copper
only thing to think about if its winding over with no compression it wont build heat from compression and may make it harder to start on a cold morning
And if it miss fires it can break the pinion or so I have been told
Old Magnet will know better than me but I understand that it should be wound over under full compression for a few seconds then open up the fuel and they start instantly
If you start winding over with the throttle open they can miss fire and thats when a pinion can break
