Hey guys, I have a Holt M35, I left for a couple weeks and came back and half of the machine was stolen. I am still learning about this model. I was under the impression that is was almost the same as a cat 2ton. What are the differences and how do you tell? What parts from the Cat are Interchangeable? The Serial number is 80613, I think that makes it a 1927? Which is right before it changed to cat? Any info would be appreciated, Thanks.

I'd be combing the local scrap yards to try to save my original parts and maybe get some help on catching the thieves! Here, a scrap yard owner doesn't want to be implicated in receiving stolen merchandise, either knowingly or unknowingly!

Hi, Links56
If you have a HOLT, as I understand things, it was likely built before April, 1925 'cos that's when Holt and Best 'got married'. I think everything built after that was branded, 'Caterpillar'. Sorry to hear that you have some light-fingered folks around your way. Might be an idea to get a 1/2 dozen junk yard dogs and chain them to it.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

The dogs would probably drag off what's left because it's so light. I live on the edge of 2 states and there are too many scrap yards. I really gets me that people won't mind their own business and respect others property. It's something that's not around much anymore sadly.

Anyway, are the motor parts and final drives interchangeable between the holt and the cat? Thanks.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
