A Holt gas engine is used for powering the drill rig in the 1973 movie Oklahoma Crude, shown at 58:25 and 1:25:13 and at 1:38:45 where George C. Scott and Faye Dunaway try to start it. Good movie.

Look like a 45HP or a 55HP combine engine. The 45 are hard to tell from a 55 from the outside because the main difference is the bore. Different magneto brackets, and mags were used through the years but were interchangeable between the two engines. The engine in this movie has a Bosch mag on it and not the Splitdorfs used early on or the KW model HK (high bar) that most of us are use to seeing.

Thanks! I noticed one of the jugs was welded up too. Pretty cool to see an old Holt engine in a movie!

That jug look like it has met hard water more than once, and I am having OCD problems with three of my jugs that have been frozen once

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
